A bag and the start of a new Quilt

My sweet DIL wanted a new bag ever since she found those left over blocks in the scrap bin.
Today she came over real early to make it.
We played around a bit wondering how and what to add to make the bag happen.
Nadja my DIL, likes it with a lot of color.
The blocks been a left over from a Quilt I made for Nadja
years ago with the 10" Batik squares  from a swap at Popular Patchwork.

It turned out great. At least I think so. Probably ending up making one for me too.
Than I started on a new Quilt. The pattern is from a Magazine from Czechoslovakia.
The patter is called Ledove Krystaly.
I don't understand a word they writing but the pictures are very good.
The measurements are in metric. Bummer, I usually work in inch but its coming along nicely.
Here are my first cuts and the first part of the block.
The color is not right. I have to take the pictures in the day light next time.
so I hope I get more done this week.
I hope you all have a great Sunday.

Would you belive she did it.

This cute little face .

I just couldn't belive it, but she chewed a corner of my quilt. (No she is not starving. She gets enough food)

Boy was I mad.

Well so I cut the corner off and added the binding and the Quilt was whole again and unique with the one corner looking like that.

And then I come home today from work to find out - she did it again -
Now its not a corner its in the middle of one side.

Do you think she is jealous of the time I sew. Or may be she does not like this quilt. Mmh, makes me wonder. She never did anything like that before. Ok, now I have to see how I get that one fixed.

Now to something nice.
Look at the little bag and a ring pin cushion I got from my friend Andrea.

Isn't it darling. Here is a close up from the ring pin cushion.

On Sunday I been to my Sewing bee and the girls made me a House for my Janome .

Uhhh I love it.
It has pockets on the side.

Little heart shaped pockets for scissors or other small items.
And on the other side a bigger pocket for a ruler.

and then there is my new bag. Its not that new any more but I did not get around to post about before. Since it got done just in the nick of time to take it with me on vacation.
Its a bag that I can turn into a backpack with a second shoulder strap. It has a lot of pockets on the outside as in the inside.
It came real handy.

so that is all for now and dont forget to come back on the 31st of October for my next give away.

Lots of quilting hugs

Happy New Year

My first post for this year.
I hope you all had a great time.
2012 was a great year and 2013 is going to be at least just as good if
Not even better. Just because I said so.
The Quilt I'm going to show you know has been just in the nick of time finished in 2012, not that you think I'm super fast.
I just did not had the time to post because I had the house full with family and friends. Had a great time with my darling grand son.
Scrappy Chain Reaction
Its my version of the chain reaction. My scrappy chain reaction. Yeah.
close up from the quilting

The pattern is from Lee Heinrich and it was in the Quiltmakers Magazine March/ April 12.
But just recently, Lee posted on her Blog Freshly Pieced that she sell's the pattern as PDF file. So if you are interested go check it out.
I liked the pattern very much. It was a pretty quick Quilt and I know I'm going to do this one again in some dark fabric's.
and than one more pic. Its from my sweet DIL.
She needed a B-day Present for her SIL and wanted to sew a bag. So she finished it today and here it is.

File Bag

Who would have thought - another post in such a short time.
See what a few days off can do.
During Blog hoping I found a picture from a File Bag here.
I just knew the person that would love to have one of these.
She started University this year and this file bag would make
The perfect Christmas gift.
The pattern is from a German Patchwork Magazine - whichever I did not own.
So I had to come up with my own. I don't think I did to bad but I know
With the next one I would have to change a few measurements.
Also I would use some Half rings instead. But I did not had any at home
and I had to make due with what I had at home.
Guess I have to make a run to home depot tomorrow to stock up with
Belt straps, Half rings and hook snaps.

Ok here are the pictures.

A new everyday bag

My everyday bag just needed to be replaced. The handles where worn out plus the fabric from the bottom got so thin.
Plus I seen this gorgeous fabric at the shop. It just screamed to me to take it home. So what can I say - I took it home and made a new bag.
I been favoring this pattern for years and I cant count how many bags I already made. It just has the perfect size for me. I holds my lunch for work and everything I need. I changed a lot about the making of the bag. But I guess you all know about changing things just the way you thing it should be or how its more easy.
Now I just be quiet and show some pictures.
my new everyday bag

I added a inside zipper pocket

on the other side I used cam snaps for the pockets

I hope you enjoyed the pictures.

You all have a great weekend.

a new bag

a peek inside
Yes a new Bag. I wanted a small bag but not to small to take with me to the FoQ.
So I bought this pattern from Homepatchwork and got to work. Its a small back pack and it turned out great.
The fabric for the bag I got last year at the FoQ.

But now, since its finished, I do not know if its what I want to take along. Oh well, I guess I still have time to consider and make a different one. Lol.
I also finished quilting two Quilt from the Kellerquilter.

This Quilt is called "Black is beautiful" and the top was done by Jana.

This Quilt is called " is music inside" and the top was done by Nachteule61.
I tried to quilt some music notes and had a lot of fun by trying.

Ok, that's it what I'm been up to and the month is not even up. I'm getting better in posting.

I think it is a monthly Blog

Time is flying. The month of March was full with events. Boy there been a lot of Birthdays in March.
Ok, let me tell you a bit of the happenings.
First of all theres been the 13th of March when we delivered 52 donation Quilts to the Heydenmühle from the Kellerquilter. You can read about it here and here. The translation is not the best but hopefully good enough. If not, there are always the pictures. Lol.
It was so great being there to deliver the Quilts. The residents from the Heydenmühle invited us for Brunch first and it was nice being there and spend a few hours with the residents. To see all the happy Faces I know why I like helping the Kellerquilter.
Here are the last two Quilts I quilted for them.

the Binding still needs to sewn down and its called "viel Näharbeit"(lots of sewingwork". The top was done by a Lady called Fadentante
here is a close up from the quilting

this one is called "the red sheep", This top was done by a Lady called Myriel

And here are some little things I did for a booth the Kellerquilter are going to have on the 1st of May

Cherry Pit Pillows

Money Mice

As for the money mice - here in Germany the slang for money is mice.
So I thought for money presents the mice are cool. I bet every country has there own slang for money.
My DIL Birthday been in March also. She seen a Bag she can also use as a Back pack that she wanted . So I set out to work to get it done. I had a pattern from
Homepatchwork. I added a pencil case and my DIL was very happy with the result.
And here are the pictures from the Bag.

So that's it for the quilting stuff. There has also been a move and renovation from my Son and DIL new apartment and preparing for inventory with overtime at work. I don't think you are interested in that.

I hope it wont take me over a month again next time. You all have a great week.

Big Bag Swap

Now I can show you a picture since my Swap Partner received the Bag.
In a small yahoo group I belong to we had a big bag swap for the Festival of Quilts (since they won't allow backpack there anymore) So we thought we all need to have a big bag to stash all the fabric, pattern, threads and all the other goodies you can find and spend your money on.
I'm getting real excited its only 27 more day's until I fly to Birmingham.
But here I'm drifting away from what I want to show. My Swap Partner was Fiona. She wanted the color red and long Handles. I did ask if I can add other colors and she was ok with that.
So this is what I came up with
in the inside of the bag I put a big pocket to hold the wallet and a snap hook for the keys, so she wont have to surch throug all the fabric, pattern, threads and all the other goodies, to find them. lol.

A Big Bag

Since its Sunday and there is no mail today (so no Friendship Blocks to post) I thought I post something else.
Nadja (my sweet DIL) wanted a big bag, So she was here yesterday to sew up her new bag. She had her eyes set on one pattern of a Germany Magazine.  We changed it a bit to her needs and I think it turned out alright. She was quick to pick her fabric and I have to say I like the outcome. The size of the bag is 30" x 12".

Kelly posted another Tutorial to make a Make up Roll for the bag.
Like the last few times it was real easy to follow her tutorial with lots of pictures. You all should give it a try.
I liked making the little thing. I know it wont be my last, this will be a nice little gift.

Little Magic Bag

That's what this little bag is called -Little Magic Bag. I bought the pattern at the Quiltfest in Idstein from www.homepatchwork.de. I finished it last night.
What a cute little bag just big enough for a wallet, keys, tissues and so on.
There we go again , another bag. I guess my DH does not call me Bag Lady for nothing. Lol
