The top from Darlene's mystery is finished

Yeah, the top is finished. I already got the fabric for the back and now I can think how to quilt it.
I really like the way the mystery turned out. I changed a few things. The appliqued border and the piano border and the last border with the french braid.
The pattern was easy to understand and everything fitted perfect.
Thank you you very much Darlene for having the mystery.
The Quilt top is so big it was hard to take a picture. I hope you still see everthing. When its finished quilted I have to think of a different way to take a picture.
and here another one so you can see the corners.

you all have a great week

Sneak peek on the last border of Darlene's Mystery

I been working on my last border from Darlene's Mystery. I changed it a bit. I kept with the French braid border but used some light fabric with it.
When I was working on the border I decided to keep the corners in the light fabric and pick up on the applique from step 3 and appliqued some flowers in the corner.
Darlene's Mystery part 7

Well I finished one corner and still have three to go. I'm getting so excited about finishing  this quilt.
I just know it will look great on my bed. Its the biggest quilt I did so far with the size 88" x 92".
Its about time I be thinking how I'm going to quilt it.

You all have a great Sunday

Just got back from my sewing circle. It was such a nice day.
I worked on part 7 from Darlene's Mystery. Hard to belive its the last part
from the mystery. It the biggest quilt I did so far and it will be a challenge to quilt it.
But first I need to finish it. Lol.

I had to go to the quilt shop on Saturday to get some more fabric to finish part 6.
Sure did find the right fabric for the last solid border  ( and some more  :-) )
And here is a picture from the finished part 6. Its getting to be a challenge just to take a
Picture of the quilt because its so big.

And now the announcement of the winner.

The random number generator picked

The last day of may already

Last day of may already, can you belive it.
The weather here in Germany is more than a little shi...y.
Its been raining and raining and raining. Where is all the water going.
When I walked Lisa this morning my friend said. " the Lord must have a very high water bill"
I really would be happy with some dry day's, some sunshine would be nice too.
But on the other hand with the rainy days I do not feel so quilty being on the sewing machine.lol
I been working on my mystery from Darlene part 4.
I added just the piano key border like I seen it at Lesley's blog -The Cuddle Quilter
And I started on my log cabins :-).
Then my sweet DIL been here.
The last time she was here to sew, she seen a fabric in my stash that she thought would be great for a bag.
So that's what she came up with . She is getting real good.
She turnes out to be a bigger bag lady than me. Lol
I'm getting real competition here.
So, and know for my give away for the month of may.
Here are 6 pattern. They already a few years old but never been used.
Just collecting dust. Sorry for the bad picture. I just could not take them without a glare.
So if you want them, just leave a comment until next week friday the 7th of June.
Then I let the number generator do the trick .
Good luck.
You all have a great weekend.

Another finish, Darlene's Mystery and other on going things

First I want to show you my finished Quilt I did from the 4 1/2" squares that I talked about before
I thing it turned out great.
I worked on that Quilt with my Quilting group once a month. We are 6 Girls and we each take turn in hosting the event at the house.
Hubby always says it's not a quilting bee but a eating bee. Since there is cake and dinner. Its always a wonderful day. That's for sure.
This is what I'm working on now with the group.A kaleidoscope Quilt.
I bought the fabric for this Quilt already about 3 years ago. I guess its time to work on it.
In order to save some money on shipping  cost we ordered some batting together, all together 80 Meters. So on Thursday when I got home from work Hubby said " You got mail, I put its in the sewing room"
When I got to  the sewing room ( which is just a small and very packed room, lol) there was this Hugh box. The side was already cracked and
Bulged. To bad I do not have a  picture of that.
I'm like " yeah the batting is here" I took the knife and cut the top of the box, and the box started to have a life of its own.
Pfff , peng, plop, psssssssd, the  sides of the box tore apart and out came a roll of batting wrapped in plastic that the air had been squeezed out off and started to fill up again .( like a jack in the box)  I'm laughing just writing this but I guess you had to be there to visualize the ongoing . Lol
Well , all of the sudden my sewing room was even smaller. Lol
Here is a picturer with the batting
And here is the batting getting ready to be cut for everyone.
I guess next time it be someone else's turn to order. Lol
Then I finished part 3 from Darlene's Mystery. I changed the applique border a bit more to my liking. I used a water glass for the template of the flower and a small thread cone for the flower buds. The leafs I just pencilled. I'm happy with my border.

So and then I'm working on Jean's snake dance mystery.
There I'm on clue 5. But I wont show any pictures jet because I do not want to spoil the surprise because there are more groups working on this mystery on a different times scale. But hop on over to Jean's Blog to find out more.
And I finished my last row for the row swap at the  popular patchwork
Forum, and as soon as my last row gets here I also will show you some pictures.
You all have a great Sunday.
Lots of hugs

the winner is

Jean, you are the winner! would you be so nice and send me your snail trail adress.
As soon as I get it I post the give away.

and now to Darlenes Mystery.
for working on part 2 I needed 5 1/2" squares, but the squares I had left over from the squares I bought at the Flickenkiste had the size 4 3/4" . What to do? I told you that the Quiltshop Flickenkiste is just about 20 Min away from me, right. Yes, of I went to the Flickenkiste and bought long quarters from the Fabricline from the squares. Dont you love it to have a excuse to go to the Quiltstore. Yes, me too. lol

and here is a picture from part 2. For part 3 you probably have to wait a bit longer since its the applique border.

Last day of April already

Wow this month flew by.

Where to start if I look back at the month of April.

I had to finish a Baby quilt. Don't they always come so unexpected. Lol
Just like Christmas, you know its coming but all of the sudden it right then.
Its not that I did not know for a little over a half year that the Baby's due date was in April  but I sure was surprised when I heard that he was born already. Lol
Liam is his name and he is a very cut baby boy.
So I had to make the Baby Quilt real quick.
I did a disappearing 4 patch with a nice border  around and appliqued the baby's name in the border
Baby Quilt for Liam

Than last month we went to a new Quilt store in our area, Flickenkiste. Boy, it was great. So much fabric to choose from and only 25 min away from my house. I'm in quilt heaven. Lol
When we been to the store I picked up a bunch of cut squares that looked like charms but they weren't.  They only measure 4 3/4"
So what to do??
I seen a quilt during blog hopping at Diary of Quilter and thought that would be perfect for those squares.Of I went and I started out by cutting they squares  down to 4 1/2" and picked some more fabric to go with the squares .  I'm almost done with that quilt and be able to show you pictures in a few days. But here is a sneek preview from the fabric

But with that quilt done I had still squares left over and thought I can use them for  Darlene's Mystery at Quilts by Darlene . By now, its no more mystery because I know how the finished quilt looks. And let me tell you it looks great and they way she wrote the pattern - great. Go over and check it out.
Well , I finished with the first part and looking forward to work on number two.
Darlene's Mystery part 1

Ok, and now to my give away for the month of April.
This whole year I'm having a give away every month from things I don't want or need any more or thought I could not live without when I bought them. I bet you all have those kind of things too, or??
Well this month it will be the pattern from apple patch design - the protector of all things unfinished. I bought the pattern at the FoQ in Birmingham in the year 2011, and yes I sure made the angle and its hanging in my sewing room.

So may be someone else needs a protector of all things unfinished .
On top of the pattern I add a book, a mystery story from Terri Thayer - Ocean Waves. I liked the book and I left all the letters in the book for you to read. Lol

Just leave me a comment  and next Sunday I pick a winner.

And than a question - does anyone uses the the basting gun from Wall mart in the states ??
I used it and it was good. My gun broke but I still have a bunch of the basting stacks.

So if someone wants them - leave me a comment.

So you all have a great may day.

Quilting hugs
