Time for sewing

Finally had some time to be at the sewing machine.
Some extra day's off from work did wonders and felt great.

I needed two more gifts for Christmas, and made two small table mats.
Do to a mistake of sewing the pieces  wrong together I received a total different look.
But what can I say " a Happy accident " I liked what came out of it.

Than I accumulated so much  leftover pieces from the fleece I used for the Quilt backings
And thought I could make some Dog toys for Lisa and her friends for Christmas.

They all enjoyed there new bones. Lisa's is still alive - what a surprise - the little
Terminator usually kills every toy in minutes.
Lisa the little Terminator

Than I had a bag of scrap strips given to me for a donation quilt.

When life gives you scraps make a quilt, right?

I remembered a Quilt from a older Magazine, America loves Scrap Quilts 2010
The Quilt is called Plenty of  Pomegranates. Just perfect for those strip scraps.
Plus I could try and use my new glue stick from Sew Line I got from my trip to Veldhoven.
The stick worked perfect, no more pinning. I had so much fun, the blocks went together quickly.
I have to remember to get refills for that stick. Its well worth every penny it cost.
That's how far I got. I will keep you posted on the process.

You all have a wonderful weekend.
It feels wonderful to be back sewing.

Lots of quilting hugs

Would you belive she did it.

This cute little face .

I just couldn't belive it, but she chewed a corner of my quilt. (No she is not starving. She gets enough food)

Boy was I mad.

Well so I cut the corner off and added the binding and the Quilt was whole again and unique with the one corner looking like that.

And then I come home today from work to find out - she did it again -
Now its not a corner its in the middle of one side.

Do you think she is jealous of the time I sew. Or may be she does not like this quilt. Mmh, makes me wonder. She never did anything like that before. Ok, now I have to see how I get that one fixed.

Now to something nice.
Look at the little bag and a ring pin cushion I got from my friend Andrea.

Isn't it darling. Here is a close up from the ring pin cushion.

On Sunday I been to my Sewing bee and the girls made me a House for my Janome .

Uhhh I love it.
It has pockets on the side.

Little heart shaped pockets for scissors or other small items.
And on the other side a bigger pocket for a ruler.

and then there is my new bag. Its not that new any more but I did not get around to post about before. Since it got done just in the nick of time to take it with me on vacation.
Its a bag that I can turn into a backpack with a second shoulder strap. It has a lot of pockets on the outside as in the inside.
It came real handy.

so that is all for now and dont forget to come back on the 31st of October for my next give away.

Lots of quilting hugs

Update on the quilt and my Sunday walk with Lisa

There has not been much quilting time in the last week. I still got to finish my top by adding the border.
I'm in the middle of quilting it but those pictures have to wait. Just so far- I like what I see - lol.
Here is the top with the border.
Just to spice up my blog with some pictures I decided to take my camera along on my Sunday walks. - Just if its not down pouring rain, but it was not raining today.

Lisa started to be in her first heat. Oh boy, that is young. She is now 7 month. At least it took my decision away about having her spade before her first heat or after her second.
You hear so many controversies about both ways.
So with her being in heat she either has to be on the leash or I have to walk in a very open space so I can see what and who is about.
So I decided to leave real early this morning, thinking not so many people are about walking the dogs.
I left at 7 am in the morning. The Sun just started to come out that was so beautiful.
So here are some pictures from my walk.

thats how it looked when I left the house. Is it not beautiful. But it only took minutes before the sun was all out.
lots of open space

lots of open space to see who and what is about and lots of space to let the dog run.

wonder if there is a mouse
or looking for mice to chase.
isnt it pretty with the fog still being on the ground a bit.
Kloster Altenberg
here you see the nunnery of Altenberg. Its just across the river from us. May be next sunday I take Lisa walking there to get some more pictures. Besides they have a nice coffee place up there - just open on sundays. lol
Lisa surely having fun.
can you see the arrow in the picture. You barley can see but it the castle of Braunfels. That should be a nice Sunday walk also.
she's been such a good girl on the walk.

I hope you all have a great Sunday.

Lots of hugs
Kerstin

Happy Halloween

I'm so sorry for being absent from my Blog for such a long time.
May be a few from my readers are still around.
I been on vacation and had a wonderful visit from my MIL.
We also had the baptism from my Grandson and a new puppy came to live with us.
So I hope you can see that time was flying so fast.
But now let me tell you a bit of everything.
My Mil came for a visit and to meet her new Great Grand son. We had a wonderful and lovely time. Do you remember this Quilt that I made for a special person. Well it was for my MIL, she was that special person and I think she loves her new Quilt.
We even took some days to go to England.
We been for 3 days to London. It was very nice. The things we seen been great. But I don't have to go back. Sorry, but the big City and Life there been to big and to fast for me.
After 3 Days of London we went first to Portsmouth and then rented a car to explore some of the places. I wished we had more time because again time was flying and we did not get to see all the things we wanted to. Oh well we need to go back.
Here are some pictures from our England trip.

can you see all the old sewing machines in the window

I also got to meet up with Family. I truly enjoyed that part. Since we never had the chance to meet before.
What better to bring along for a Gift as a Quilt.
So before we left for England I finished this Quilt for my Aunt by marriage.

As we where staying with my Aunt I heard about Oakley and the fund raising for him.
So I decided to make a Quilt for that good cause.

I hope they will be able to get all the money together to get this little boy walking.

And than I sign up for a row swap at PP Forum. Everybody got to choose there own colours and the theme for the first row was squares and rectangles.

my first row went out to Pam

And this is the row I got from Caz.

Isn't it a lovely row. I hardly can wait for the second row to be announced.

So last but not least I want to introduce you to Lisa ( Mona Lisa) look at this face. Isn't she the cutes little puppy you seen

She is now 15 weeks old and moved in with us about 5 weeks ago.
I'm so happy to have her.

Our last Dog my Baby Nala went across the Rainbow bridge last May, way to early and I was hurting very much. My first thougts after loosing her - no more pets. It been fine for some time but I missed her badly and after seeing some pictures of the litter of dogs I just wanted to go see and what can I say- Lisa came up to me and I was lost.
How could I have resisted.
You all have a great Day

Hugs Kerstin
