Hallo, anybody still out there ?

If real life is taking over as director and from one minute to the other, nothing is like before.

Keeping up a blog, becomes real quick a irrelevant fact......

The last two years changed my life completely

and I have to learn to live a different life.

 I want to thank my friends out there sooo much.

You know who you are.

For sending hug hearts, cards, letters, fabric and patterns to cheer me up. It felt so good to know you are out there thinking of me. I'm sorry if I faded out. I was just not my self.

Hugs to all of you. 

I just recently found comfort and joy again in sewing.

One of my My New Year resolution was starting on my blog again. Now its almost February so its about high time to do it.

I don't even know if anybody still out there. Well I just start.

I will start in baby steps and will try to post once a month.

I been reading blogs and follow some on Facebook and so I got hooked on Darlene's ( A needle pulling thread QuiltShope) facebook page.

She started- a year of the little quilts - . Every two month she post about a quilt from the book - civil war remembered -

The first Quilt from this book was President pride.

I sure enjoyed that one. Just a small Quilt.

The size is 36 1/2" x 36 1/2"

I made two of them and use them for table toppers.

They look real nice and I enjoy the new look on my table. 

The next one is crossroads and is due in February.

Then in the beginning of the month in a German Forum some one (Petra) started a Mini Quilt Mystery called Crossroads, and I joined in also. Its into the third week and the revealment will be next week.

This is what is looks so far. 

I do enjoy the cold and snowy weather out there because it gives me time to sew.

I hope you all had a great Easter time with your loved ones. I sure did.

My Grandson been over and he had fun looking for the Easter eggs in the garden. I enjoyed watching him. 

 

 

I also got the quilt done.

 

I'm so happy. I like the look of it.

It was a great pattern even so I could not read a word.

The Czechia  people did a great job with the magazine, well done with all the pictures.

 

So my next project has to do something with scraps.(bin is over flowing)

I still have to search for a pattern. There are so many out there. What to choose?

More of the Crystal quilt

Not mot much time but still a little bit to show.

I worked some more on the blocks from the crystal quilt.

I finished the blocks an put in on my wall, yeahhh.

What can I say. I like what I see.

A bag and the start of a new Quilt

My sweet DIL wanted a new bag ever since she found those left over blocks in the scrap bin.

Today she came over real early to make it.

We played around a bit wondering how and what to add to make the bag happen.

Nadja my DIL, likes it with a lot of color. 

The blocks been a left over from a Quilt I made for Nadja

years ago with the 10" Batik squares  from a swap at Popular Patchwork.

It turned out great. At least I think so. Probably ending up making one for me too.

Than I started on a new Quilt. The pattern is from a Magazine from Czechoslovakia.

The patter is called Ledove Krystaly.

I don't understand a word they writing but the pictures are very good.

The measurements are in metric. Bummer, I usually work in inch but its coming along nicely.

Here are my first cuts and the first part of the block. 

The color is not right. I have to take the pictures in the day light next time.
so I hope I get more done this week.

It's time to reveal the "Against the tide" Mystery!

Today is the day I get to reveal the Quilt. But first I want to show the last clues before I put the quilt together.

 

here I just played around with the layout

 

Looked cool but with the other blocks. I did not had any idea on how they would go together.

 

Jean kept me in suspense. A well done Mystery for sure.

 

Then the last clue came and I was able to sew the top together.

After sewing together the top,I did not like the fabric I chosen for the backing anymore. What to do? Dig deep into my stash, LOL . Out came a dark green Batik fabric. The only problem, it was not wide enough for the border Jean had planed. So I changed the border a bit. I was lucky that I had enough background fabric left. For the binding I was going to use the dark green I used in the blocks, but darn, :-( - I was one strip short. So the medium purple went as binding.

And here are the pictures from the finished Mystery. 

It was pretty windy outside so I had a hard time taking the pictures . I hope you enjoy. Then you should go over to Jean's blog and check out the pictures from her mystery plus her students blocks with all the beautiful fabrics.

If you ever have the chance to do a mystery with Jean- do it! Her pattern are great - easy to understand - and everything fits perfect.

 

I love my mystery! I'm so happy I had the chance to test that pattern for her. Thank you so much Jean!!

Against the tide mystery continues

 

 

here are my clues 3 and 4 

 

 

after making these clues it still was a mystery what was coming.

Even the girls in my sewing bee turned the finished clues this and that way.  Jean kept us in suspense. lol. But I sure loved the green with the blue fabric.

Im finished quilting my mystery quilt and now handstiching down the binding. I hope we will have some good weather this week so I can take a good picture of the quilt.

It turned out gorgeous. But to see the whole quilt you need to come by next sunday.

 

What else I been up to. Not much free time at the moment. But I had to finish a little bag for a gift.

Against the tide mystery

Against the tide mystery

 

Its been quiet around here. Not because I did not had anything to show. But my friend Jean that blogs at

Quiltjeanie asked me if I would test a pattern for her.

Her Mystery - Against the tide -

and since its a mystery I could not post about it.

But since her classes started its ok to talk about it now.

Did not want to spoil the mystery before, right.

I did a mystery with Jean before

The snake dance mystery . It was a great pattern and everything worked out perfect.

So when she asked me if I would test I jumped for it.

Again it was a great and perfect pattern. The Quilt is stunning. I still wont be able to show you the whole Quilt now but I be able to show you my fabric choice and the first two clues.

 

My first fabric choice was this.

 

Then I changed the 3 shades of one color. 

here is my new shade light and medium. the medium from the first picture is my dark now.

 

And Im not so sure about the border fabric. I got two to choose from. lol

Zen and the jelly roll

Yes, another finish. Its been a UFO for some time.

 

I got the pattern from the book jelly roll inspirations.

The top was done real quick but then  something else got

in between. But now I needed a gift and I just knew this would

be the right quilt. So out it came and here is another finish.

It feels good to see it finished.(there is lots of potentials in my UFO box

to have plenty more finishes, :-))

Plenty of pomegranates is finish

It just took me a little bit longer but its finish now.

My first finish for 2014. Yeah.

I had lots of fun doing this quilt.

Applique is no scary subject no more. Lol.

The Glue stick from sew line made it possible.

Process of my plenty of pomegranates Quilt and the winner from the give away.

It's already the 5th of January. Time is flying. I thought I could finish

Last day of the month and the year and a give away

Wow, the year is almost over.

But before it is, I want to post the last give away for my monthly give away of 2013

And now about the process of my newest scrap quilt

Plenty of pomegranates.

I sewed all the blocks together and added the border.

 

I'm pretty sure to say this will be my first finish in 2014. Lol

I hope to get if finished quilting before I have to go back to work

Next Monday.

 

When I look back on 2013 I did not had to many finishes.

But a lot of started projects.

I hope 2014 will be better. I guess all I would have to do is finish

All my UFOs in order to do that.

 

Than there is one more thing I want to show you.

Sunday I went to my sewing bee with the girls.

It was such I nice day and again I started something that is

Not quite finish. Lol A back pack. More about that in 2014

 

But every year for Christmas we draw a name and for that person we

Have to get a Christmas gift and we exchanged gifts on Sunday.

I want to show you what I got.

A beautiful tin box filled with goodies. 

 

Thread, some batik fabric, cam snaps and some tea. Isn't beautiful?.

 

So all left to do now is to wish you all a great day
