Scrap Quilt

This was a free pattern from Lynn Brown. I just decided to make it a bit smaller.
It is a good start for this year as far as finishing my ufos and wips. I be taking it to the post office next week and sending it off to California.
It felt so good just to grab Fabric out of the scrap box and not even thinking.
Well one down and plenty more to go. Lol

The new pattern for the craftsy Block of the month came out.
I printed the pattern out but don’t know jet when I get around to making them.

Protecter of all things unfinished

Remember the pattern I got at the FoQ last year. I finally finished it. I guess now there is no stopping me in finishing my UFOs now. Lol

Every year it seems to be the same,” The good will of finishing the UFOs”.
But instead I seem to create more. I sure hope it’s not continuing like this. I be running out of space to collect the UFOs .
For this year I just signed up for two things
1. the free motion quilting challenge at sew cal gal. I hope this is coming to good use in finishing some of my UFOs . Most of them just need quilting.
2. and the BOM at Craftsy.
I finished my first two blocks for that BOM also, and here are the pictures.

It’s been raining a lot lately. The meadows where I usually take Nala walking are all flooded.

But I think it looks so pretty. So we kind have to stick to the fields and get our feet muddy.

Free Motion Challenge - January

She has a free motion quilting challenge going, you should go and check it out.

This month lesson was from Frances Moore. She showed us in a video clip how to quilt leafs.

She made it look so easy. Big Thanks to her.

She wanted us to draw it on paper first. So here it goes, the drawing and my practice piece.

Here is my first sample, I used a 12” square to try my quilting.

Green Aurofil thread on black fabric.

I’m quilting with a Janome MC 6500 and used a Topstitch needle size 90.

It’s far from being perfect. But I enjoyed the pattern and looking forward for the next challenge.

Merry Christmas and the 100th blog post

I came on here to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and to let you know that the knot popped.
I have not been on here for some time. I did not have anything to show or tell you.
Every time I went into my sewing room I came back out because I did not had any Idea or energy.
All the work and the time of year kind of left me hanging in the air. Leaving for work in the dark, and coming home from work in the dark kind of drained me. But I had a few days off this week and it did me very good, the knot popped.

I finished a Quilt top. I’m so happy because I thought I would never get back to sewing.

I used scraps and a pattern from Lynn Brown I had for ages.
Just using scraps and not have to think was just what I needed. I thing is will make a nice donation Quilt once it get quilted.
This is a bad picture because my sewing room is so small but I promise to get a better picture as soon as the Quilt is finished.
But as I was writing this I noticed that this is my 100th blog post. It might not sound like much to most of you, but I think it’s a cause to celebrate. Yeahhh.

So I will have a Giveaway for you .

Gee this was my first time ever to win in a Blog Give away.

I feel bad for not posting about it early. My only excuse is the time, it's running through my fingers. I wish I could find the switch to turn the running time off. Lol

Well yesterday when I got home from work there was a package waiting for me.

What a highlight for that day.

It was Cyndis Package.

How much fun to open and find all the goodies Cyndi added on top of the book and the 25$ gift certificate that I had won.

You are the greatest Cyndi. Thank you so much!!

Than I did win the fav. Block swap,from a small yahoo group I'm in,

all the blocks made it to Germany.

So here is a picture of all the blocks I received. Aint they all great.

All I need know is time.

The only sewing I got done is my block for the Underground Railroad Sampler

And a small bag for my little steam iron.

I got the iron last year and I love it. Its great to take along. But I needed something to put it in, if its still warm. So I lined the inside of the bag with heat resistant fabric.

So, I got nothing else to show or tell. I'm off to the kitchen to fix my self a cup of tea and than I'm going to lay on my couch enjoy my new book.

My sweet DIL finished her quilt.

Last year she made a Memory Quilt for her parents.

Well there had been a lot of scraps and some shirts leftover.

So she wanted to make a memory Quilt for her self.

I did the quilting for her but she did the sewing herself.

I think it turned out great and she is very proud and happy with her Quilt.

Time fly's when having fun. Right!

Been back from vacation and back to work. I tell you, it feel like I have not been gone. Lol.

But I still have something's to show and tell.

Remember the Block I made for the Favorite Block swap.

Well I get to keep it . Yeahh. I won. And I got so far a bunch of nice blocks in fall colors. I'm still missing one. Once they are all here I show them off.

Then I finished a Baby Quilt for my girlfriend Esther. Its for her first Grand Child.

She told me its going to be a girl. I sure hope so. Its kind of pink. Lol

At the time when I was pregnant it was still a surprise what we had. Now the days they know everything before.

I also finished one more UFO. Its the Snail trail on detour I finished.

I'm so happy to get some of my UFo boxes of the shelf.

But also putting new ones there.

Been on vacation

We just got back from vacation Its been great to have a few days away from home and work.

I saw those huge luggage statues at the airport and I just had my DH take those pictures.

The first UFO is finished

I finished the Table top. I just had to quilt and add the binding. I quilted leaves and did the binding with the machine. I used the tutorial from this blog. I looks fine from the top but from the back so lala. It still needs a lot of practice to stay in the ditch of the binding and for a Quilt I will stick with sewing down the binding with hand sewing

I also finished a little Welcome door hanger for my friend. She moved into a new apartment and I gave it to her for house warming party.. (is that what you call it)

Yes, and I created a new UFO. I started with my Angle - protector of all things unfinished. Lol. So far I got the background finished( and no picture) and still have to do the Angle. I thought I keep that project for when I meet with the girls to sew.

I also finished the next block for the underground railroad sampler - the Drunkards Path .

I thought when that block came up-" Wow , never done it and yes you got a book with templates". All right. Out came the book and the templates. The fabric and off I was cutting the templates out. The sewing was easy than I thought and when finished I had to laugh. Lol In my eagerness of trying this block out. I just plain forgot to measure the templates and ended up with a 16" block instead of a 12". That's what I get for just jumping in on a project. Lol.

Like my teacher always said. Measure twice cut once.

Well I did not measure and cut twice. Lol. But the block turned out nice.

So that all to tell for time being.

Oh no . I did about 10 Money mice for the Kellerquilter.

They have a market coming up in October. So I hope they can sell them there and make a few Euros.

WIPs and UFOs

Yesterday I thought I work on the Block's from the Underground Railroad Sampler. Its a monthly project on Popular Patchwork.

I was missing the last few blocks and thought I need to catch up.

That's what I got so far

As I was sewing I looked around, thinking as to what I would work on next. I got my self the promise to finish one UFO after a new project. I'm doing pretty good with that rule. I'm down to, 2 Wips and 8 Ufos. I'm getting there. Yeahh. The last project was my new bag so now a UFO.

I started to take all the boxes out of the shelf and took a peek inside and than pictures.

Here we got. From oldest to newest.

I guess I need to make a few more blocks to even make a wall hanging and I don't have the faintest Idea about how its supposed to look. Lol

The theme was stars on beige or cream. Annette and Trina won that round and Annette got to choose the next theme.

It was Fall colors on cream. ( I love the colors and would not mind winning this one , hint, hint. Lol) and here is my block.

Its called the Centennial Tree Block and the drawing is not until October.

Ok. I hope posting my ufos will make me stick to my rule about finishing them instead creating new ones. Lol.

What do you call projects you have the pattern and the fabric but not have been started. Is there a name for those???? ( because there are a few of those also on the shelf)

A Bag for the FoQ, the FoQ and goodies from the FoQ

Did not find time to post the pictures of the new bag before. Like I said nothing better then a deadline to get something finished.

The bag just got finished in time to get on the plane with me. Lol.

This is just a proto type and I still have a few adjustments to do. But the size and the pockets where just great for the FoQ. I was able to store everything from wallet to camera to water bottle and some goodies I bought.

The FoQ itself was awesome. This time I been for 3 days and it still was not enough. I should booked a later plane on Sunday. I just keep that in mind when booking next year. I got to meet with lots of my virtual friends. That was awesome also. Its good to finally have a face to the name. People around us kept looking funny as more of us came from every corner. It was so good to meet up with all of them. I had a great time. I hope it works out next year to meet again. Annette took a bunch of pictures and I took this one from her blog. So you can see how much fun we had.

Its been a long time again since I posted. I'm just not a good blooger. Sorry,

I have been working a lot lately. Its great because of the money, since I fly next week to Birmingham to the FoQ but on the other hand I'm just to tired to write something and just happy to read other peoples blog.

But I did some sewing. Yeahhh.

I finished the Sew a Row Quilt from the swap a long time ago. Angela started by working on hers and when I saw her pictures I got inspired to work on mine. Well here it is.

it was a great swap Girls. Im happy to have been a part of it.

Once I got working on it, it went like a breeze and I finished it in no time at all. I mean most of the work was done. All I had to do is to decide in which order to set the rows and add a border.

I also made a Baby Quilt, my nephew is becoming a father. Gee, time sure flys. It seems not to long ago he was just a little one himself. Him and his Girlfriend are going to have a little Girl.yeahhh.

They picked the name Mia. Isn't it a beautiful name?. I still had some of the fabric from the Quilt left over and made a babron from craftiness is not optional.Her tutorial was just great and easy to follow. It was fun making it and it turned out lovely. But what can I say, I had a senior moment and send the package off without taking a picture. So you just have to take my word for it, lol .

May be I get a picture with the Baby wearing it. But at least I got a picture from the Quilt

I also finished all my Bento Blocks to send of for a swap.

I still have to take some pictures of the quarters I kept. This will be a interesting Quilt once finished.

I also won in a different yahoo group the fav block swap. Yeahhh. I got 11 wonderful blocks - batik on white. I still have to take pictures of those also. pictures will follow. I'm way behind as you can tell. I already know what I want to do with those blocks. Just need the time. Lol.

This Sunday I have to work on the bag I want to take along to Birmingham. I hope to get to finish it before I fly. I just have to and I know I always work very good on a dead line.

But speaking about bags. I finished a bag pack for my son's second B-day in July. ( no, he is not two. He just gets to celebrate a second time)

It was a special order from him. Im always amazed how well he goes into detail when asking for something. I guess he can picture it already beeing done. lol

I Spy

This weekend my DIL and I worked on this I Spy Quilt.
My very first I Spy.

Oh well, we used 4" Disney Fabric squares I got on Ebay and we used the disappearing 9 Patch pattern.
The Quilt is about 54" x 74"
I was suprised in how fast and good we worked together. We had lots of fun and much laughter between us.
I finished quilting it and passed it along to my DIL so she can hand sew the binding on.
Thats the best part about sharing, lol. She even likes to hand sew the binding.

Quilt Show - Rüdesheimer Patchworktage

Yesterday I went with some friends to the Rüdesheimer Patchworktagen.
We had a great time.
Rüdesheim it self is a beautiful City and visited by a lot of Tourist. The Quilt Show it self was in 3 different places located and they had a shuttle service going to take you to any of those locations. One was a monastary called Kloster Johannesburg but is now a hotel, one was City Hall and than a school. At the Gym from the shool they had like the shopping stalls. It was real nice but I came home with surprisingly little that I bought. Not that I did not see any. With seeing all the quilts and other little things beeing on display I guess the brain went into overwork. I have a few pictures if you want to see, not to many. I always forget to take pictures while looking at the show. Sorry.

Remember my first jelly roll

Its been a long time I got my first jelly roll and started this project, almost a year.

And then a lot of things got in between. I guess a few of you can relate to the same problem.

A lot of UFO boxes.

Well with this Quilt its one box less and xxx to go. Lol.

I kind of made a promise to my self to start and finish a UFO after every new project, not counting the single blocks for different swaps and so on lol.

So I went ahead to finish this Quilt so I can work on a new Bag I have in mind.

I know, I know, don't I have enough?. NO. There is always room for more .lol.

I hope I be able to show you the new bag pretty soon. On paper its looking good already. lol. So watch this space.

Memory's of Emil

I finished a Quilt for my cousin. My Uncle passed away in February and I asked
Ute ( my cousin ) for some of his Shirts.

The pattern is called Light and shadow and I saw it on someone's Blog.

So I Worked out the pieces to cut ( I did not have a pattern) and of I went.
I really like the out come and hope it will be a nice memory for her, from her
Dad.

and now Im going to work on the quilt I started with my 1st Jelly Roll. Its been in its box for already to much time.

I probably never will get all my UFO's done because there is so much adding to it all the time. So I thought after every new projekt I need to finish a UFO. We will see if that will help getting rid of all the boxes holding UFOs. lol.

Yes a new Bag. I wanted a small bag but not to small to take with me to the FoQ.

So I bought this pattern from Homepatchwork and got to work. Its a small back pack and it turned out great.

The fabric for the bag I got last year at the FoQ.

But now, since its finished, I do not know if its what I want to take along. Oh well, I guess I still have time to consider and make a different one. Lol.

I also finished quilting two Quilt from the Kellerquilter .

This Quilt is called "Black is beautiful" and the top was done by Jana.

This Quilt is called " is music inside" and the top was done by Nachteule61.

I tried to quilt some music notes and had a lot of fun by trying.

Ok, that's it what I'm been up to and the month is not even up. I'm getting better in posting.

Time is flying. The month of March was full with events. Boy there been a lot of Birthdays in March.

Ok, let me tell you a bit of the happenings.

First of all theres been the 13th of March when we delivered 52 donation Quilts to the Heydenmühle from the Kellerquilter. You can read about it here and here. The translation is not the best but hopefully good enough. If not, there are always the pictures. Lol.

It was so great being there to deliver the Quilts. The residents from the Heydenmühle invited us for Brunch first and it was nice being there and spend a few hours with the residents. To see all the happy Faces I know why I like helping the Kellerquilter.

Here are the last two Quilts I quilted for them.


the Binding still needs to sewn down and its called "viel Näharbeit"(lots of sewingwork". The top was done by a Lady called Fadentante

Money Mice

As for the money mice - here in Germany the slang for money is mice.

So I thought for money presents the mice are cool. I bet every country has there own slang for money.

My DIL Birthday been in March also. She seen a Bag she can also use as a Back pack that she wanted . So I set out to work to get it done. I had a pattern from

Homepatchwork. I added a pencil case and my DIL was very happy with the result.

So that's it for the quilting stuff. There has also been a move and renovation from my Son and DIL new apartment and preparing for inventory with overtime at work. I don't think you are interested in that.

I finally finished my Land of the little Quilts. I love the outcome. I hung the Wall hanging into the hall way so everyone is forced to look at it when coming in. Lol.

Since my Swap Partner Annette received her Mug Rug I can show a picture of it. We supposed to use some of our fancy stitches on our machine. Im not so much into those stitches. I thought I quilt a feather into it. This was my very first feather.

But most of all is that Annette is happy with it.

I finally finished Nr. 3 and Nr. 4 Quilts for the Kellerquilter with quilting. This time I did not have any information as to who made the tops. But both are very beautiful and pretty big. I'm happy I finally got them done. So tomorrow I will look for a box big enough to hold all 4 Quilts and send them on their way to make someone happy.

my B- Day Quilt

Last year I was in a B-day Club at the PP Forum, I told you about here.

For my Birthday I got all those 4 1/2" green and brown squares and all those lovely cards. For the longest time I did not know what I was going to do with them, and I already thought of a 9 patch variation. Then one day I stopped at Naomi's blog Beeshebags and she showed this awesome Block, with the link to you tube that showed how its done. So I went and checked it out and thought ,"thats it". I love the way the Quilt turned out and I'm happy I waited to do something with the fabric until I stopped at Naomi's Blog.

I don't know about you but I'm always doing a few things at the time. I cant remember ever to have started a quilt and just work on that until its finished.

In between the "land of the little Quilts" I quilted two Quilt top's for the Kellerquilter.

The Kellerquilter are a group of Lady's organizing donation quilts. They collect scrap fabric and donation fabric to make Quilts for disabled people. I wrote already about them a few times and made already a few donation Quilts for them.

Every once in the while they offer Wonder bags in a German Quilt forum.

Wonder bags are, a neat packages of put together fabric for one Quilt top. They then offer those bags in the forum to make Quilts. Some just sew together the Quilt tops and some finish them all together. The outcome from those Bags are awesome. Its amazing with what people come up with. Hop on over and take a look at there Blog. Last year they got more than a 100 Quilts together, isn't that awesome. If they have a lot of Quilt tops they ask if someone wants to quilt. I offered to do that. So here are two Quilts from 4 that Im quilting.

They will bring a smile to someone's face.

So just a quick note.

I want to keep the promise I made to my self about being better in blogging.

In my last post I showed you the lap quilt I made for my nephew. Well I finished quilting it and added the binding. ( that is always the tough part for me).

Than I finished one more donation Quilt. This is a special order from a Guy living at the Kinderzuhause. When we where there to deliver the Donation Quilts from the Kellerquilter, we just had Kids Quilts and he was already to old and to big for one of those. But when I asked what color he would like he said he wants one with frogs . So I told him I would make him one. It was so funny because he asked " can I come and pick it up tomorrow" that was on Dec. 10th. I told him " I'm not that fast but in January I will have it finished". So I'm very happy I can keep that promise for him.

Puhh, its been a long time again. I couldn't belive all the cobwebs and all the dust around this blog. Well I guess that's what I get for not coming around.

I have been working a lot. Lots of overtime but the money comes in handy to support my habit (fabric) lol.

And I did do a bit of sewing, but I was not able to show it to you if I did not want to spoil the surprise.

But here are now some pictures.

a new Lap Quilt for my Nephew. He got a new Seat cover for his Wheel chair. So this Lap Quilt fits the new Seat Cover. But it still needs to be quilted.

Last Tuesday the Girls where at my house to sew and we started a new projekt. It will be a Wall Hanging and it's called"In the Land of the little Quilts". We bought the pattern about 5 years ago and finaly starting on it.

from a bunch of halfsquares and squares and other sqraps I got the bottom part of the wallhanging done

I really like this one. I hope to get it done soon. I already know just the spot to hang it up. I hope to keep you posted pretty soon about that.

And the last picture is about the snow. It was nice to have a white Christmas but enough is enough. I would love to have summer again. Im tired of driving in the snow. How about you ?.

Scrap Quilt for the Kellerquilter

Once again the Lady's from the Kellerquilter asked for help making Quilts.

Well so I looked into my scrap bins and pulled out some blocks I made in the very beginning of my patchwork day's and added a few more blocks to come up with this quilt you see here. I used some very soft backing almost like a minkee so the recipient will be able to snuggle up.

And here is another donation Quilt I made for my MIL's niece. She makes Quilts for a rehab place she works for in Santa Barbara. Every year at Christmas the patients get a Quilt. I think this is so awesome. So I made this one for her. My husband call's this one psychedelic. I think its a good name for it.

I should have used some black for the blocks like I did in the border, oh well there is always next time.

A very long break

Well I'm back. Like I mentioned in my last post the wedding was great and I will post a few more pictures.

My visitors left and are back home, I'm finished doing laundry and cleaning the house ( did just what was necessary while my visitors where here) and I even had a small interlude with my sewing machine. Pictures will follow, I still have to hand sew the binding on the small table top.

I had a fantastic time with my MIL, SIL,BIL and there kids.

I even been to Ireland with my Mother in Law. Yeah I overcame the fear of driving on the wrong side of the road and just did it. We flew into Kerry and it was awesome. The country is a beauty. I sure know I be back there. The only thing weird- There are no patchwork stores around. And here are some pictures from Ireland.

here is the coast of Dingle a very lovely town.

this is Muckrose House in Killarney with its beauitful gardens. In the upper right corner of the picture you can see the fire escape they build for the queen of england in 1861 when she came for a visit.

this is a picture from Blarney Castle. ( yes I did kiss the stone of blarney)

And than here are some pictures we took at Burg Greifenstein ( ancient castle Greifenstein with its Bell museum) The Bell Museum is situated in the bulwark of the castle Greifenstein. There are about 50 bells with descriptions and information about how bells are produced and how you bring them to ring. It's possible to ring some of the bells yourself and we sure enjoyed it!

The castle was first mentioned in 1160 and got destroyed and rebuild several times and its a ruin now but you still can climb up the towers and enjoy the view and its just about 20 minutes from our house.

Oh and before I forget, look at this great pattern I got from my friend Maggi. She saw my mini mosaic on the blog and send this pattern to me because she thought she was never going to use it.

Wedding and my Birthday

Well, I haven't had time to post before, its still a little crazy around here.

The wedding is over, it was fantastic.

Everything turned out just the way we wanted it to be. Even the weather was playing in our favor. It did not rain like the day before.

Here is a picture of my Son and his Beautiful Wife walking out of church.

I spend so many tears. Emotions just took over.

My Birthday was the day before the wedding so this year we kind of moved that day to the side because there where so many things that needed to be done before the wedding.

But in the beginning of this year I joined a Birthday Club with the Popular Patchwork Forum and it was real fun receiving all the envelopes in the last few weeks. I was not allowed to open them until my B-day. So I put them on the highest shelf in my sewing room. On my Birthday I got up real early when the house was still quiet and everyone was sleeping to open all the envelopes. What joy I had to receive all those beautiful cards and all the fabric.

From my Friend Kim I got this great book

Twist and Turn Bargello Quilts
As soon as this place will go back to normal I sure will try one of those Quilts in this book.

And from Joan I also got this beautiful Fabric.

Mini Mosaic Sampler

I haven't been around for some time. I was very busy preparing for my sons wedding next Saturday. Plus preparing the house for my Mil and Sil with Husband and two Kids. They will be staying for about 4 weeks. I'm looking forward to that very much. I even cleaned out my Sewing room, sorted my Scraps and Fabric in those new bins I got at Ikea. But that's
not what I was going to show you.

When I was at the FoQ in Birmingham I was at the Stand from Paula Doyle- Green mountain Quilt Studio. I fell in love with her little Quilts. So last Wednesday I got the pattern for the Mini mosaic Sampler. Since I had cleaned out my Sewing room, I had a easy time bringing out my little scraps for this Quilt. At first I did not wanted to start until after the wedding but as I was looking through my fabric and than started cutting the Freezer paper in 1 1/2" squares there was no stopping. It felt so good to do some sewing.

So in the last few evenings I finished this little beauty of 18" x 22". I had a few problems to iron those squares on to the vilene. ( I don't know if I had the right kind or if I was just to impatient with it) and it has a few flaws but the next one will be better.

Gee time fly's when you have fun. I been back from the FoQ already almost 2 weeks.

Its been great. So many pictures in my head. Its most amazing what some people come up with and put it in fabric.

I got to meet a few people from PP Forum so this been a real treat. Finally have a face to the names. We had a nice evening together. Just to bad that the weekend went by so fast. Next year I have to make sure we stay a bit longer.

I showed you in a earlier post my Bag I got from Annette for the FoQ and that I thought I would have problems filling it. Well I did not had a slightest problem of filling this huge bag. Even that fabric was not on my list I got close to 15 yards. Also thread and little notions and pattern. But to top it up I did auction a Grand Quilter from Ebay a few month ago and my Friend Kim picked it up since it was in the UK. She brought it then to the FoQ with her so I could bring it home to Germany. So far I did not really had a chance to do some quilting may be after my Sons wedding.

Finished Ufo and a wallet

This Sunday I did finish a UFo. I still had about 1 1/2yards from this Elvis Fabric leftover from the time I made my Nephew a Quilt. So I had started this bag. Since it was pouring Rain last Sunday I thought I have a go and finish it. It really did not had so much to do just add the snaps in the front and on the sides (the snaps on the sides is to enlarge the bag if needs arise). The Handles and the bottom.

I'm really proud because for the very first time I used a zipper pocket in the lining. Never did that before. It came out all right.

Than I mad a wallet as a little gift for someone. It was a first for that pattern I got at Machwerk. Worked out fine also. Wont be my last.

My last beautiful block from Jo arrived.With one sad and a happy feeling I opened up the last envelope, sad because this means this swap came to a end and a happy one because all the blocks I got are great. Jo included a beautiful handcrafted Card for me. I tell you I'm one lucky person to receive all those great blocks and extras that everyone send.

I enjoyed being in this swap and Thank everyone in this swap participating.

At the time, I wont have the time to put my Quilt together but hopefully by the end of this year. If I get the chance I take a picture of all the blocks laying out together so you get to see them all together.

Well my bag got here. What a beauty. I love it. The colors are so meeemeeemeee.I love the pattern and Annett's quilting is awesome. It's so big I doubt I have so much money to fill it at the FoQ. But I sure will give it a try. Lol. I cant belive its already next weekend. I mean not this coming but next weekend. I'm so looking forward to it.

Yesterday I meet with my friends to sew. Once a month we do that. I took all my blocks along to show off. They really liked the blocks and the pattern that shows once I laid out all of the blocks. I'm waiting for one more and than I should really get busy. We talked about the borders and what I should use to finish of the quilt. But we are 5 Girls and can you belive it every one has a different opinion. So I might just stay with what I wanted to do before I asked. Lol.

Big Bag Swap

Now I can show you a picture since my Swap Partner received the Bag.

In a small yahoo group I belong to we had a big bag swap for the Festival of Quilts (since they won't allow backpack there anymore) So we thought we all need to have a big bag to stash all the fabric, pattern, threads and all the other goodies you can find and spend your money on.

I'm getting real excited its only 27 more day's until I fly to Birmingham.

But here I'm drifting away from what I want to show. My Swap Partner was Fiona. She wanted the color red and long Handles. I did ask if I can add other colors and she was ok with that.

So this is what I came up with

in the inside of the bag I put a big pocket to hold the wallet and a snap hook for the keys, so she wont have to surch throug all the fabric, pattern, threads and all the other goodies, to find them. lol.

A Big Bag

Since its Sunday and there is no mail today (so no Friendship Blocks to post) I thought I post something else.

Nadja (my sweet DIL) wanted a big bag, So she was here yesterday to sew up her new bag. She had her eyes set on one pattern of a Germany Magazine. We changed it a bit to her needs and I think it turned out alright. She was quick to pick her fabric and I have to say I like the outcome. The size of the bag is 30" x 12".

Then I got my first Friendship Block. About 16 Month ago I signed up for a Friendship block swap. Every month one name got drawn and we had to make one block for that person. Every person had chosen a Theme. (I have a little slide show on the side bar with all the blocks I did for everyone that is in the swap with me). So this month its my turn. ( I had a long wait). My Theme is the Jacobs ladder. So everyone is making me a block with the Jacobs ladder. Kims Block arrived first. This is a lot of fun. Cant wait to put all the blocks together.

Life of joy - Lebensfreude

That is what its called. I meet once a month with 4 other lady's to sew, eat, chat and have lots of fun.

Everyone has there turn in choosing what we are working on. (I mean its not a forced thing, if you don't like it you just do your own thing.) But so far we seem to have the same likes and dislikes. Its always fun in the end to see what fabric does to a pattern. They always look so much different.

When the last Pattern came up I thought "not my kind of thing" But still decided to work on it and to use just scraps for this Quilt and then give it up for Donation. I changed a few blocks in the pattern since I did not like them in the Quilt and left part of the border out because it would been to big for my taste. (that's the fun part about it. You can do whatever you like in quilting) Its finished now and I really kind of like it. The size of the Quilt is now 70" x 55". I will take it next week to show it off to my friends and than it will go to my Doc. So he can ruffle it of and use the money for his work with humedica You know, even that I used all scraps for this Quilt it made just a very small dent in my Scrap boxes. Lol. I guess I need to make another scrap Quilt.

I was able to pick up my machine from the shop yesterday.

Its running smooth again. Its a pleasure working with the machine again and I finished the last Quilt. So I be packing the box and of they go to be distributed to good new home.

Here are three of the four Quilts the Kellerquilter send me to quilt. Isn't it great that I can try my self in free motion quilting. The Quilts are gorgeous and I was so nervous to quilt them. I hope they are happy with the quilting I did so far.

The fourth one is still in the doing. Like I mentioned in my last post that the machine had to go to the shop. I hope to be able to pick it up by this coming weekend. Then I finish the forth one and I will post pictures of it also.

I think its great that so many people are out there that trying to help and just make a quilt top or even finish the whole thing for a good cause.

Here a little thing I did last weekend. It went real quick. A little workspace to take along to class or when I meet once a month with the girls. Space is small so we always prepare and cut the fabric at home. But you always need to cut a corner or something.

You all know what I'm talking about.

So this little work surface is awesome. There is a little cutting mat plus on the other side a little Iron pad. All I need now is a little iron. Lol.

Otherwise I been busy with quilting. The Kellerquilter send me a box with 4 Quilts to quilt. They are so beautiful. I'm done with 3 of them and when I was quilting the last one my machine broke. There was just about 8 more inches to go on the quilt when my machine acted up and showed FM phase error. What ever that means. Took her to the shop today and hopefully I can pick her up by this weekend. Hope it wont be to expensive either. Well, we will see and I will tell you.

My Winter Mini Quilt from the Swap at the Quilting Gallery arrived.

It came all the way from New Zealand. Viv did a wonderful little Quilt with Snowman's. Its such a beauty. Thank you so much Viv.

I also received a beautiful Card from Jan. She was my Swap Partner in the free choice Card Swap in a nice yahoo group. She also send me this wonderful shear fabric with it. My brain is smoking thinking what I can do with it. Once I know you all sure will find out about it.

So those moments made my week. It soo great to get a surprise in the mail.

So and now I want to let you know about the great give away at Cindys Blog- Bluebirdswing. She makes wonderful purses and bags. You just have to go and take a look at her blog. I finished the Quilt for the Kellerquilter and it reached its destination already. They where very happy with the Quilt and they liked my quilting. So I be quilting a few Quilts for them when people just send in tops. This will give me a good chance to practice my quilting. So now Im awaiting the arrivel of the package with the quilttops.

Now I wasn't in Blog Land for a Month. So there is a lot to show and tell.

It was not that I was lazy as you might think .

I just had to decide to blog or sew in the little time that's left in the day after work. I choose to sew and here are some pictures to prove

1.) I finished my Sampler - Its a nice big Quilt with Fleece as the backing.

2.) Rooster Ed - I had fun with this little Wall Quilt.

I will hang it on my Entry Door. I'm ready for a new
Season as you can tell. I'm tired of Winter.

3.) speaking of Winter. I joined the Winter Swap at the
Quilting Gallery. My Swap Partner this time is in
Europe. The Mini Quilt is almost finished. I still have
to add the Binding. But here is the 'Fabric I used for
for the Quilt as a little tease. In case the one I'm
Sending it to is looking around this Blog.

4.) then there is the Birthday Club from PP.
February was a very busy month with a
Lot of B-days. So I had to make some Cards
and I cant show them until March because I
dont want to spoil the surprise.

5.) the ATC Swap in a small yahoo Group I'm in.

That was my first attempt in a ATC . What a small
thing. I gave my best and made a ATC for Jo.

and then there is the ATC I got from Ros. Isn't it a
Little Beauty with the Butterfly in it. Thank you Ros.

6.) and last but not least I was busy making a Quilt for the
Kellerquilter. The Kellerquilter is a Group of wonderful German
Ladys that collect donated fabric and make Quilts
For disabled people. They choose every year a new
Home for the Quilt's. In a German Forum the
Quiltfriends, they asked who wants to help. So here

I am with the making of this Quilt. Here you see the Fabric they send me and what I
did with it so far.

I still need to quilt it.

Ok, that was all I managed to do in the last Month. I try to be a little better about blogging.

ein Frohes neues Jahr wünsche ich euch !!!

die Feiertage waren wunderschön. Es war toll ein paar Tage daheim zu sein.
War damit beschäftigt meinem Neffen eine neue Jacke für den Rollstuhl zu nähen (seine andere wurde zu klein). Habe gedacht so ein Bunny vorne drauf sieht schon klasse aus. Habe es für hier mit einem Stern verdeckt. Möchte ja keine Schwierigkeiten mit dem Copyright bekommen.
Seine Schwester meinte er wäre auch langsam zu alt für seinen Spiderman Quilt also musste ein neuer her. Sie kaufte das Elvis Panel und meinte das würde Ihm gefallen. Aus dem Panel wurde dann dieser Quilt.

The holidays where great. It was good to be home for a few day's. I made my nephew a new wheel chair jacket (his other one got to small) I thought a bunny on the front will look cool. I covered it up with a star for here so I wont get trouble with the copyrights. His sister thought he outgrew his Spiderman Quilt also and bought this Elvis Panel. So that's what I came up with. I think he will like his new Quilt.

Secret Santa Swap

Gestern durfte ich mein Päckchen von meinem Secret Santa ( Ros ) öffnen. Ein wunderschönes Nadelkissen für die couch. Nadeln und Schokolade mmmmhhhhhh. Vielen Dank Ros. Auch mein Mann freut sich darüber das ich jetzt die Couch nicht mehr als Nadelkissen missbrauche.

yesterday I opend my Secret Santa Gift from Ros. It was a lovely armrest pincushion and some needles and some mmmmhhhhh chocolate. Thank you so much Ros for my lovely gift. My Husband is also very happy about it since I used the couch as a pincushion.

Der Tausch für ein paar selbstgestrickte Socken.

Die Mutter einer Freundin wünschte sich einen Wandbehang. Besagte Freundin fand nicht die Zeit. Also sagte Ich. "Ok Lilo, Du strickst mir ein paar Socken und ich nähe Dir einen Wandbehang". Bis auf die Größe gab Sie mir freie Hand. Ich hoffe er kommt gut an und ich freue mich auf meine Socken.

Ja, der Holiday Quilt Contest. Da habe ich mich angemeldet mit meinem Adventskalender. Die Anleitung habe ich mir schon nach meinem Anfängerkurs gekauft. War ich da schon mit Größenwahn befallen??lol. Die Anleitung habe ich in der Scheune gekauft. Das war mal ein super Patchworkladen der leider zumachte. Die Anleitung selbst ist von Petra Jung. Die hat ganz tolle Anleitungen und ich habe noch einige die ich nacharbeiten möchte. Das Abstimmen über die Weihnachtsquilts beginnt am 8 Dezember. Warum schaut Ihr euch nicht mal da um. Yes the Holiday Quilt Contest. I signed up for with my Adventskalender. The Pattern I bought soon after my beginners class.Am I suffering from megalomania??. lol. The Pattern was bought at Die Scheune. A great Patchwork shop that has been closed. I'm totally sad about it. The pattern itself is from Petra Jung. She has a bunch of great pattern which I still have to do. lol. Anyways the voting for the contest starts Dez. 8th. Dieser kleine Quilt 32cm x 27cm ist aus dem Patchwork Magazin 06/ 2009. Es war meine erste Stickereiarbeit.

Heute haben wir unsere Swap Partner zugeteilt bekommen. Mein Swap Partner ist aus den USA .
Ihr Wunsch war kein Halloween. Was würdet Ihr zu diesem kleinen Wandbehang sagen. Ist es Halloween wegen dem Kürbis?? Oder ist es einfach Herbstlich.?? Bitte helfen. Oder sollte ich einfach nochmal was anderes nähen. :-)
Today we got oure Swap Partner asigned. My Swap Partner is from the USA. Her Preferences where no Halloween. What would you say about the Wall hanging. Is is Halloween because of the pumpkin or is it just Fall ?? Please help out. Or should I just sew something different :-)

Ja der Fall Swap/ Herbst Swap. Noch habe ich ja keinen Swap Partner bekommen und weiß garnicht was mein Partner so mag. Also bin ich mal ein bisschen am ausprobieren. Das gefällt mir ganz gut vieleicht wird es aber doch was ganz anderes.
The Fall Swap is coming up. So far I have no Idea who my Swap Partner will be or what my Swap Partner would like. So Im just experiment around. This is one of the things Im working on. I like it but there are a few thing I want to try out.

Fertig gequilted

Seit dem die Maschine zur Reperartur war läuft sie wie ein Lottchen. Ich bin totall begeistert. Das Resultat im Anhang. Ein Quilt für eine gute Freundin. Ich habe damals Ihre 10 Monate alte Hündin Nala übernommen weil Sie einfach nicht genug Zeit für sie aufbringen konnte. Ich weiß das es ihr ganz doll wehgetan hat Nala wegzugeben aber Sie wusste das Nala ein gutes Zuhause bekommt. Als Danke schön für diesen tollen Hund ist dieser Quilt gedacht. Jetzt hat sie wieder was zum kuscheln. Die Rückseite ist mit Minkee Stoff gemacht. Ich weiß das es nicht so toll ist wie mit Nala zu kuscheln aber ich hoffe das der Quilt trotzdem gut ankommt.

Since my machine is back from the shop she is running real smooth. I enjoy sewing an quilting again. The result is this quilt. The quilt is going to a good friend of mine. I took her 10 month old dog Nala over since she couldn't keep her. She couldn't bring up enough time for her. (good for me) I know it hurt her a lot to let Nala go but she knew Nala was going to a good home and would get very much love. As a Thank you for having Nala I mad this Quilt. Now she has something to cuddle again. The back from the quilt is made with Minkee Fabric. I know its not even close enough as to cuddle with Nala but I hope she still enjoy the quilt.

Eine neue Tasche- a new Bag

So meine Nähmaschine ist wieder zurück von der Reparatur. Zum quilten bin ich noch nicht gekommen, hoffe das ich hier die Woche noch dazukomme. Aber ausprobieren musste ich die Maschine ja schon mal. Also habe ich mal eine Tasche genäht. Funktioniert einwand frei. Die Oberfadenspannung ist besser eingestellt. Vorher war sie so locker das wenn man nicht aufgepasst hatte ruck zuck die Spannung nicht mehr stimmte und man Fadensalat hatte. So dann werde ich noch mal das Bild einstellen und schauen das ich mich spurte um die Hausarbeit fertig zu bekommen. Vieleicht komme ich heute noch zum quilten.

My machine is back from repair. I did not had the chance to quilt jet but I tried sewing. That worked great. I made a bag ( what else, lol ). The machine works great. They fixed the tension wheel which was always to easygoing and sometimes if I did not pay attention it would change to nothing and than the problem began. About the chrome coating on the thread guide, they fixed that too. I will find out when I get to quilting. So I will add a pic from the Bag and than I'm of to do some house chores in the hope to get around to quilting today.

Der Quilt für meinen Bruder

Ja, der Quilt für meinen Bruder ist fertig geworden und auch sehr schön wenn ich das selbst mal so sagen darf.
Aber meine Maschine hat mir fast den letzten Nerv beim Quilten geraubt. Hatte mir doch so ein tolles Valdani Garn für diesen Quilt in Birmingham gekauft. Aber der Faden reißte ständig. Wechselte dann zu Madeira, das war zwar besser aber reißen tat’s auch. Also, Zähne knirschend fertig gequiltet ( hatte ja einen engen Zeitplan. Die Maschine habe ich jetzt erst mal zur Reparatur gebracht. Aufgefallen war mir das sich die Chromschicht von der Fadenführung ablöste vielleicht ist da ja schon der Fehler. Werde berichten was es ergibt. So jetzt noch das Bild vom fertigen Quilt und dann muss ich mich mal an die Hausarbeit machen

The Quilt for my Brother is finished and turned out very nice if I can say so myself.

Still my machine was driving me crazy quilting this Baby. I bought some nice Valdani Thread at the FoQ for this Quilt. But the thread was breaking constantly. So I switched to Madeira thinking my machine didn't like the Valdani thread. Wrong, the Madeira thread broke to not as much as the Valdani still enough to make me crawl up the wall. So I finished the Quilt having a bad time. ( but had to finish since there was that time limit) Took the machine to the shop and hope they can fix the problem. Looking at the machine a little close I could see that the chromium coating is peeling off from the thread guide. May be that could have caused the problem. Lets see what the technician can find out. I will keep you posted. Now real quick the picture from the Quilt and than I have to get some housework done.

Ja, was soll ich sagen " Es war einfach spitze" Ein bisschen viel für 2 Tage aber jetzt weiß man ( Frau) bescheid für nächstes Jahr.
was ganz toll war das ich mich dort mit einigen Leuten aus dem Popular Patchwork Forum treffen konnte (Kate, Caz, Maggie, Jane, Angela und Kim). Besonders mit Kim. Kim kenne ich schon von einem anderen Forum und es war echt toll sie endlich kennen gelernt zu habenund zu tratschen. Sie hatte sogar das Zimmer gegnüber im Hotel. Das war wirklich toll. Abends haben wir uns noch eine Flasche Wein gegönnt und den ganzen Abend getratscht.
Gekauft habe ich natürlich auch. Valdani Garn, Garn überhaupt, 1m Batik Stoff, 1,5m Webstoff für eine Tasche ( wieder eine Tasche, lol ), Lineale und noch diverse andere Sachen. Nächstes Jahr muss ich doch einen Koffer mitnehmen. Das Handgepäck war eindeutig zu klein.

Well, what should I tell you. " It was absolutely stunning" A little to much for just 2 Day's

But I know better now for next year.

What was really great was to meet the Girls from the Popular Patchwork Forum ( Kate, Caz, Maggie, Jane, Angela and Kim ) Especially Kim , since I know her already from a different

Forum and it was great to finally meet her in person. She even had her Hotel room across from mine so in the evening we finished a bottle of wine and had a great talk.

Sure I bought a few things some Threads, Rulers, 1m batik fabric and some other Fabric.

I know I need to bring a bigger suitcase for next year. Hand baggage was just not big enough, lol.
